A number of years ago I published a blog called KiltMe! which was full of fashion advice, stories, and insights into kilts and the men who wear them. It was a fun project, and while I enjoyed it for a long time, I eventually got distracted with other things.

During that time however, I wrote a short book combining a modern day love story with a fabricated history of a kilted New York that might have been. I recently published the book on Amazon as both a print book and an e-book, and it turned out quite well. The brilliant Donna Mehalko did the illustrations for it, and they look delightful on the page.

The e-book took some work, because illustration is harder to format than just text. I used Calibre to convert it, and then Sigil to edit the .epub file.

For the print book I was able lay it out in InDesign and export it as a PDF. Createspace, which is owned by Amazon does a nice job of print on demand books, and while the color isn't perfect, the illustrations look good. Overall I'm very happy with it.

Here are some screen shots, and of course a link to buy the book if you're interested.
