It’s been months since my ADD had allowed me to finish a book. I finished this book today. It’s haunting, enthralling, and makes you feel so many things between horror, love, sadness, and at times happiness. Alice is a very hard headed and fiery woman. I love that she says what she’s thinking and is able to admit her own faults within herself. Throughout the whole story I was trying to figure this book out and dissect it. Why a 41 year-old female protagonist with the body of a young teenager? Why? You finally get to the last few chapters of the book and it makes sense. I cannot personally relate to Alice’s background, and for that I am glad, but I have friends that do. I know so many people in my life who have dealt with the darkness of sexual assault. This book brings to light the complexities of the victim and even the feelings of the perpetrator. People may not like that, but I believe it’s something that should be talked about. This book opens a very interesting dialogue. It is not for the faint of heart.
